Stratesys unifies the management and monitoring of solar fields for FRV

The Spanish multinational Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has launched a pioneering project that gives them the new capability to to monitor in real time the status of their photovoltaic plants located throughout the world as well as control their plant maintenance processes. The project, jointly developed with Stratesys, was based on the adoption of the SAP Business Objects technology to ensure the unified management and monitoring of solar fields and their components –  alarm detection, document management and preventive support in an agile, flexible and user-friendly solution. Currently, this solution is operational in three plants in Italy and one in Australia. Because of the solution’s flexibility in meeting business requirements as well as its technical capability to scale, it is planned to be further implemented in a total of 20 additional locations around the world over the next two years.

Alberto Martín, FRV IT Manager, remarked “The integration of SAP Business Objects with our company’s business processes has permitted, among other things, the integration and homogenization of data coming from many different sources, immediate availability of information and a greater agility in the decision making process”.

On his part, Raul Escudero, Stratesys Director of Business Analytics noted that “Monitoring solutions for plants have been present in the market for some time. However, to date, a system such as VRF, specifically adapted to the sector, that combines monitoring and maintenance had not been implemented”.

The innovative nature of this project and the results of the joint work of FRV and Stratesys have been recognized in the latest edition of the SAP Quality Awards
